GRANITE BBQ: BOYA

This project involved building a built-in BBQ and retaining wall into existing granite boulders to create a relaxed outdoor area. As a personal project, the challenge was to utilise existing walling stone on the property, a mix of native diorite and granite stone, flat stepping stones, rough garden edging laid by the previous owner, and some fresh rock made from breaking up boulders.

The main rock bbq form is built into a large boulder, then wraps around a large marri tree via a continuous retaining wall. I managed to split some larger pieces to build out the counter tops, maintaining a natural aesthetic.

All in all a great result that utilises natural material on the block.
